Common questions
Most steel garages fall within Permitted Development (PD) rights for detached houses in England and Wales — particularly the No-Permit height build, which sits below the 2.5 m boundary-proximity cap. The apex roof allows up to 4 m when set back more than 2 m from any boundary. Rules vary by siting, designation, and whether you have previously used your PD allowance. The configurator provides per-size planning guidance before you commit, and we flag anything that may require a formal application. Read our full planning guide →
The headline price includes VAT, delivery to your address and full professional installation by our team. It does not include groundworks or a concrete base (quoted separately after your site photos), or any electrical upgrades (those are selected and priced in the configurator). There are no hidden charges for standard sites.
A standard site is a prepared, level concrete base of the correct size, normal vehicle and pedestrian access for our delivery and installation team, and an electrical connection within approximately 15 metres of the building (if selecting electrical upgrades). Any site with restricted access, unusual ground conditions or a very long electrical run is non-standard — we quote the extras from your site photos before manufacture begins, and you can cancel for a full refund any time before you pay your balance.
Your building is manufactured to order, which takes 2–6 weeks depending on specification. Once it is ready and your concrete base is in place, delivery and installation typically take about a week, including any electrical upgrades by our certified electrician. We confirm your installation date once your deposit is paid and your site photos have been reviewed.
Every steel garage includes a VeltHaven 10-Year Structural Warranty: 2 years full warranty covering all parts and workmanship, plus structural cover extending to year 10. This is self-backed by VeltHaven Ltd (Companies House 17261887). It does not affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Some upgrades — such as windows and resin flooring — can be fitted retrospectively. Electrical upgrades (LED Lighting, Move-In Ready, Smart Security, EV Charging) are significantly easier and more cost-effective when installed during the original build; retrofitting requires additional site work. We strongly recommend selecting all desired upgrades in the configurator before you place your order.
